Transform your home this Christmas
10 December 2015
Christmas isn’t Christmas without plenty of sparkle, glitter and twinkling lights scattered around your home, but you simply cannot beat the impact of evergreens, flowers and berries. They not only look amazing and opulent but they smell divine and often bring back memories of magical childhood times.
You don’t have to rely on just the tree to do this, there’s lots of ways to use flowers and foliage to transform your living space.
Starting with the wreath, which makes a perfect welcome into your festive home. The Flower Lounge has a wide range of fresh and faux wreaths available and ready to go, with traditional accessories like cinnamon, dried orange and billowing ribbons and bows. But, if you have a particular style in mind, then we can also create a bespoke wreath to suit you and your door! Our more contemporary copper and peach displays have been particularly popular this year.
Inside the home, traditional garlands wrapped around the staircase can look stunning, especially when intermingled with over-sized baubles, pine cones and berries. They also look good draped over fireplaces with twinkling lights. You can achieve this look yourself by taking to the garden with a pair of secateurs and laying various types and textures of evergreen across your mantle. However, a real garland isn’t as expensive as you might think, call us today for a price based on your measurements.
Baubles can look good almost anywhere, whether stacked in tall vases, grouped in bowls, hung at windows or dangled from chandeliers...right next to the mistletoe! It’s so easy and yet an instant hit of festiveness!
A simple arrangement of abundant eucalyptus or fern in a vase can be transformed with silver or gold spray paint to give the display a festive twist. They look especially good in one of our metallic vases and will last long into the New Year.
If you fancy an activity with the kids, try dipping the tips of pine cones in PVA glue and then showering them with glitter. They can look beautiful dotted on bookshelves or grouped around a pillar candle.
Candle arrangements on side tables can be very peaceful things indeed. Surrounded by plentiful leaves, sprigs, berries and luscious flowers, the warmth of the candle is both welcoming and comforting. We offer a different sized candle arrangements to accommodate the variety of spaces within your home and can colour co-ordinate the choice of flowers with the décor of your room. We also stock a beautiful range of candle holders and lanterns which look stunning clustered in entrance ways, porches or as table centres.
The table is another area where flowers can really transform the look and feel of your home. For a DIY approach, trail lengths of ivy or gather cuttings of holly. Alternatively we have created some luxury table centres. Designed to ensure minimal disruption to your place settings, our displays really set off any Christmas table, especially when combined with some of our pretty tea lights.
There are lots of ways to use flowers and foliage in your home, whether you choose to raid the garden and bring out your inner craftiness with silver spray, a glue gun and a bit of imagination or tap into the creativity of a professional and have it delivered. We just want everyone to enjoy the joy that blooms can bring at Christmas!
