New Year Resolutions with a Floral Twist

10 January 2016

As the first week of the New Year draws to a close, how are those New Year resolutions going?

Often we set ourselves such tough targets that it’s easy to slip up and give up!  But how many of us set resolutions that make us feel good, bring colour and joy into our lives?

Having flowers and plants around us, whether at home or at work, is good for the soul. But not only does it give us that feel-good-factor, there is much evidence to suggest that it has health and productivity benefits too.  So without the sweat or guilt associated with many New Year resolutions, a simple bunch of fresh flowers or a flourishing house plant can help to purify the air we breathe and make us more innovative, creative and better at problem solving. Now that sounds like the kind of resolution we can get on board with!

Here at the Flower Lounge some of the best parts of our day are when we see the delight on people’s faces when we deliver flowers, or even the change in people’s demeanour when they walk into the shop and find themselves surrounded by glorious technicolour and scent.  We’re lucky enough to have this every day, but so can you!

With a little love and attention a few well-placed house plants such as aloe vera and yucca can last for years and if you choose varieties such as guzmania or orchids then you’ll get beautiful flowers bursting through, brightening your environment and your mood…even on the darkest of Manchester days!

If it’s flowers you love, then make it your New Year’s resolution to have fresh flowers in your home. Even a single bunch is enough to lift spirits and improve emotional health, according to a team of researchers from The State University of New Jersey.

When exploring the link between flowers and life satisfaction, their 10-month study of behavioural and emotional responses to receiving flowers showed that flowers are a natural and healthful moderator of moods.

Specifically, participants reported feeling less depressed, anxious and agitated after receiving flowers, and demonstrated a higher sense of enjoyment and life satisfaction. Who doesn’t want this for 2016?

But we know that with busy lives, the simple act of buying flowers can get lost on the to-do-list, so our ‘flowers every month for a year’ package might be just what you’re looking for. You pay for 10 bouquets and get two free and we deliver a beautiful bouquet to your home very month. Take a look at our website for more details.

We also bring colour and creativity to offices all over Manchester, transforming drab and lifeless workspaces into welcoming and inspiring places. Take a look at our corporate offer or read our top 5 reasons and recommendations for corporate flowers.

So, if health, happiness and enjoyment is on your agenda for 2016, we hope that flowers help you have the best year yet!
