Flowers for Your Same-Sex Wedding
18 February 2016
Like love, great flowers are all about the details. You’ve found the perfect future spouse, your ideal venue, the picture-perfect outfit, now it’s time to think flowers.
We understand that choosing a florist can be one of the most significant decisions you make when planning your wedding. Flowers can play a big part in reflecting your personality and creating the right atmosphere. We are hugely proud to have been awarded the Best Wedding Florist in the North West at The Wedding Industry Awards – two years in a row! So we know what it takes to create an exceptional wedding day.
Our best advice? Ditch the etiquette books and set your own rules with your spouse. Your wedding should be a celebration of the two of you and a totally unique experience. That’s where we can help. We pride ourselves on our creativity; producing beautiful, distinctive floral arrangements that go way beyond your standard bouquet or buttonhole. We’ve had the pleasure of working on some amazing same-sex weddings over the years – and like any wedding, they’ve all been inimitable.
So, where do you start… One Bouquet or Two? Boutonnieres or Pocket Squares? The unique dynamics of same-sex weddings can demand a little extra thought, so we always start with a free consultation. This is where we take the time to listen to your ideas and vision and get to know you, your personality and individual style. It might just be an informal chat, or you might already have an array of magazine clippings, Pinterest boards or real life wedding experiences that you wish to share.
We would also consider what other accessories could enhance your special day – from vases to candles, lighting displays to the colour of the flower pins, we understand that the devil (or love!) is in the detail. We hope that by the end of this first meeting you’ll come away full of passion and inspiration for what we can achieve.
The bottom line is that there is no single flower, no colour palette, no rules for same-sex weddings. Just like any wedding, whether gay or straight, each individual and every couple knows what will work best for them. So when choosing a floral designer simply make sure it’s someone you trust implicitly, who accepts and respects your relationship, who comes with excellent references and who understands your personal vision of your day.
We are honoured to share with you some of our work from Kenny and Richard’s stunning summer wedding at Didsbury House Hotel in 2015. Beautiful photos by James Tracey Photography.
