Gifts for the Host with the Most

Flowers are a traditional gift for a host. They encapsulate your appreciation and are a beautiful addition to anyone’s home. Whatever the type of party, event or function, there’s a flawless floral arrangement to express your gratitude. But, before you pick up the first bouquet that takes your fancy, read our suggestions for the types of thank you flowers and gifts that perfectly match the occasion.

  1. Summer BBQ

With just a few more weeks of summer remaining, invitations to BBQ’s will be coming thick and fast. Make the most of the season by choosing some of the delicate, British wildflowers that come into bloom at this time of year. Their slender, fragile stems work perfectly in small, posy jars, while their bright and cheerful colours look fabulous against a bright blue British sky. Your host can dot the posy jars around their home or garden to really capture that quintessential English garden feel. We have some pretty posy jars ready in the shop now!

  1. Dinner Party

A formal dinner party is the ideal occasion for a more traditional bouquet. However, that doesn’t mean boring! Think about your hosts décor and colour scheme, then speak with your florist about complementary colours in your bouquet. Your host will also be super busy, between greeting guests and preparing food, so why not pick a design that comes complete with a vase, so the flowers are already perfectly prepared and treated for longevity. They can be displayed immediately, and admired by all the guests! Check out our Eco-range for some more ideas.

  1. Afternoon Tea

Traditionally served on tall cake stands, a larger bouquet will be fighting for attention on a packed table. We suggest bringing a smaller arrangement, or something simple, such our Just Blooms range which celebrates a single flower. Effortless, yet stunningly beautiful and won’t take up the whole table!

  1. Casual Supper

For a casual supper with friends and family, you don’t want anything too formal. Think about a design that’s relaxed and unstructured – almost as if it’s just been gathered (although we know that’s not the case!). Something like our white and green textured bouquet would work beautifully in a home that loves a neutral palette or our blooming coral, white and pink hand-tied is bursting with pretty roses, stocks, hypericum and lissianthus.

  1. Drinks

Break away from tradition and bring a gorgeously scented candle to an intimate drinks party. Not only will it smell fabulous, but the soft light will add a magical and ethereal quality to the party that your host will love. We stock a wide range of divine-smelling soy wax candles from The Naked Candle Company.

  1. The Manly Host

If you’re worried that a bouquet may be too feminine a gift for your host (although we know lots of men who love to receive flowers), then bring along a stylish and simple succulent or plant as a gift. Ideal for the most masculine of bachelor pads, greenery is bang on trend, and super easy to look after.

  1. Weekend Away

Say thank you to the organiser of a weekend trip with one of our Flower Lounge bundles. This is about going the extra mile, with a florist choice bouquet made up of the prettiest blooms that are in season, plus the most exquisite, classic assortment of hand-made, Holdsworth chocolates. You can even add a fragrant candle from our Naked Candle Company range and a gift card. You’ll be sure to get the biggest bedroom after this treat!

  1. Book Group

If you’re part of a regular group that meets up to discuss books, flower arranging or any other hobby you may have, and it’s always the same generous person willing to host, why not club together and buy a gift to say thank you! Our Flower Lounge Gift Vouchers make a wonderful choice, they can be used for bouquets, plants, or for something extra special, such as our seasonal workshops designed to bring out the budding florist in anyone.

We hope we’ve inspired you to think outside of the box when it comes to a floral gift for your host. Many of our products are available to buy online and can be delivered.
