Plants That Help You Press Re-Set

This September will give us all a chance to make fresh start. For some it will be returning to the office after working from home for the last six months. For others it will be waving the kids off to school after six months of home schooling and summer holidays. For others, the beginning of autumn means a deep clean of their home as they prepare to bunker down for winter.

To help you embrace this change, I’ve handpicked some gorgeous plants that will be welcome additions to any desk, in any space. So, whatever change you’re making this September, make it more beautiful with one of these gorgeous plants.

Change Your Office Atmosphere

If you’re returning to the office after an extended period of working from home, ease yourself into the transition by bringing some fabulous foliage with you. Plants are well known to reduce stress, tension and anxiety by helping us connect to the natural world, which has a calming and peaceful effect.

Make sure you choose a plant that thrives in indirect sunlight such as the gorgeously green Monstera plant. Or a plant that doesn’t mind infrequent watering when you’re out of the office: the uber trendy Senecio would be a fantastic choice.

Reclaim Your Home Office

If you’ve finally stopped sharing your home office with the kids, why not mark this end of an era with a beautiful and productive style statement. Research suggests that people’s productivity jumps by 15% just by having some greenery in their eye line!

My gorgeous white Hydrangea plant in a very chic stone planter would be perfect…as plants don’t get any prettier than this. Or perhaps my dramatic Calathea plant, the dark purple and green stripy leaves are perfect for grown-up interiors that ooze style and sophistication.

Spark Kids Creativity

If your child needs some creative inspiration to get back into the swing of school and homework, try adding my gorgeous Spider plant to their bedroom desk. Studies suggest that by looking at plants our brains shift into a different processing mode, making us more relaxed and better able to concentrate. Which should help with equations!!

You don’t have to worry about the kids neglecting this hardy plant as it only needs watering once a week or once every 2 weeks, plus it prefers indirect sunlight as too much sunlight can cause the leaves to go brown.

Taking Care of Teachers

If you want to praise teachers for the amazing job they do, as well as wish them luck for their first full term ahead, why not treat them to a plant for their desk. Plants have the amazing ability to reduce anxiety and some think it comes down to a plant’s incredible power to transform carbon dioxide into oxygen. A recent study has found that indoor plants can help reduce carbon dioxide levels by about 10% in air-conditioned spaces, and by about 25% in buildings without air conditioning. My exotic Cactus Planter would make a perfect choice, adding some ornamental beauty as well as freshening the air.

All of my gorgeous plants are available to buy online, for contactless home delivery. Alternatively, you can come and visit me in my beautiful Didsbury shop to browse my full range of flowers, foliage and gifts.
