We Still Believe in Christmas 2020

10 November 2020

We've decided that despite how hard things have been and continue to be in 2020...we still believe in Christmas! Although we don’t know quite what Christmas will look like this year, and what we will and won’t be able to do, we think that Christmas should be just as sparkly, twinkly, festive and cheerful as it has ever been, if not even more so!

Which is why this year, we're going bigger and better than we've ever gone before...decking the halls with wild abandonment, throwing some sparkle at everything and spreading joy with festive florals!

To help inspire the festive, fancification of your homes and make the latest lockdown a brilliant excuse to get organised, I’m sharing my ideas for maximum Christmas cheer as well my beautiful range of festive, fresh flowers and plants. With The Flower Lounge by your side this year, there’ll be plenty of festive cheer!

Come Together with Crafts!

Swap your cancelled Office Christmas Party or festive girlie get together with a Christmas Wreath making session over Zoom. Our DIY Christmas Door Wreath Kits are available in three chic and stylish colour ways this year: Festive Frost, Festive Gold, and Festive Red and all include an instructional video with step-by-step tips to create your floral masterpiece. Each wreath is bursting with fresh and dried flowers and foliage, gorgeous accessories and decorations, as well as a luxury ribbon.

There are even a few festive treats in the kit to help you get into the Christmas-y spirit. All you need is a glass of mulled wine and a little bit of Bing.

You could even get crafty with the kids and make something out of any offcuts. A simple sprig of fir or holly foraged on a winter walk, can look super effective inside a clear, fillable baubles, especially when teamed with some artificial snow!

Go Big with Garlands

If ever there was a year to indulge to make yourself feel better, 2020 is it. A fresh garland oozes festive scent around your home. Garlands added to staircases, mantlepieces, tables or above doorways are a luxurious touch to your Christmas decorations and add real WOW factor!

At The Flower Lounge, we pack our garlands with fresh, fragrant foliage with seasonal little touches like pinecones and dried grasses to create texture and height. Pre-order now and collect in time for Christmas.

Twinkle, Twinkle

Why not use lockdown to plan some super special table decorations. Get creative with handwritten name labels, fancy napkin folding, or divine floral finishes, and don’t forget the all-important centrepiece…fair warning, it’s about to get twinkly up in here! I don’t think there is anything as cosy, festive or beautiful as winter flowers and foliage under the twinkle and sparkle of candlelight.

Our beautiful, floral candle arrangements feature gorgeous wintery flowers nestled between lush foliage like eucalyptus and pine and are the real showstopper to your Christmas table.

Decorate from top to tail

When we talk about decking the halls with wild abandonment, we mean every hall, every room, and every forgotten corner. Our Seasonal Posy Jars are perfect for adding a finishing touch to Christmas dinner tables or dotted around your home to add a festive touch to book shelves, coffee tables and sideboards. These jars also make fabulous gifts and Christmas tokens!

We’ve also taken our festive bouquets to the next level this year, with designs in stunning wintery and frosty colours and traditional golds and reds, using masses of flowers, foliage and berries to create abundant, festive bouquets. The perfect festive flourish to a hallway or kitchen table.

And we can’t forget about the kids! Why not add a mini Christmas tree to each mini-me room this year? Complete with twinkly lights and a star on top, it will really bring the magic of Christmas to life for them.

Spreading cheer for all to hear

If there’s one thing 2020 has taught us, it’s the importance of friends, family, community and neighbours! So don’t keep all the sparkle to yourself. Spread a little Christmas cheer with some homemade yuletide bakes, a shared glass of mulled wine over the fence or by adding a few more to your Christmas card list.

For those that have supported you this year from shop runs to dog walks to a shoulder to cry on, consider sending them a festive floral thank-you. We have some charming Christmas plants like this White Hyacinth planter and Cyclamen plant, ideal for showing your appreciation or lifting someone’s spirits.

This is just a sneak peak of this year’s fresh, floral Christmas range…I’ve still got so many more beautiful gifts and products to reveal, so watch this space.
