10 Easy Easter Home Updates

With the warmer weather, bright sunshine and emergence of spring blooms, Easter arrives at the same time as we’re all ready for a big old’ spring clean. As well as the organising, decluttering and deep cleaning, part of this is about updating the home with a fresh spring feel. And so decorating our homes for the Easter festivities feels like a real embracing of the season.

Looking for inspiration? Below are ten easy ways to update and decorate your home whether you're inviting guests or simply looking forward to relaxing in it over the long weekend.

  1. Get cracking with eggs

It goes without saying that Easter is synonymous with eggs, and we’d be lying if we didn’t admit we’ve been drooling over the luxurious Love Cocoa range currently in the shop. But eggs in pretty pastel shades are great for decorating too, whether scattered across your Easter table or displayed in bowls around your home. Pinterest has some awesome tutorials on dip-dying or marbling your own eggs.

  1. Fill your home with spring blooms

Flowers everywhere! We recommend one large bouquet of flowers as a centrepiece, such as our Pure Showstopper  or Florist Choice arrangements and then smaller flower sprigs in mismatch vases and jars placed around the home on tables, shelves, and bathroom trays.

  1. The perfect Easter table

No family gathering is complete without the all-important feast at Easter, so make sure you give your table décor the love it deserves! We suggest adorning with tealights and flowers that are synonymous with spring, such as tulips, ranunculus, daisies and daffodils in bold and perhaps even clashing colours. Our Spring Fever arrangement is perfect.

  1. Hang up an Easter Wreath

Wreaths are no longer the preserve of Christmas, with a continuing trend to embrace the new seasons with a fresh door dressing. Not only will a wreath look stunning but is the perfect welcome to any guests or visitors during the Easter holidays. We can create an insta-worthy wreath for you, or you can try your hand at making your own with our DIY wreaths.

  1. Change up your soft furnishings

A really simple way to cheer up home interiors ready for Easter guests is with fresh, coloured cushions or throws. Swapping out the creams and greys for lemons and pinks or floral patterns, instantly brings a hit of fresh to your space as well as the practical benefit of softness.

  1. Opt for rainbow coloured crockery & glassware

There are some beautiful shades of crockery and glassware available at the moment, which can really add a pop of colour to your kitchen or Easter table. You could invest in a few key pieces or mix and match several thrifty finds depending on whether you’re looking for a formal or more eclectic look.

  1. Bring in some decorative pieces

Sometimes we need to reward our spring-cleaning efforts with some new homeware purchases... Whether you adopt the Easter bunny ornaments (there’s some gorgeous minimalist styles around) or go for a new vase or plant pot, your efforts will not go unnoticed. We have some lovely decorative pieces in store which change all the time, plus our enviable range of Calico Collective pots online.

  1. Introduce texture

Our colourful selection of dried flowers in pastels and brights are a cost-effective and instant way to liven up your home ready for Easter. With gentle attention and careful storage, these blooms can last for years and become your go-to for Easter décor each year. Don’t forget about all the spring branches that are blooming too, which look excellent in floor vases or with simple Easter decorations hanging from them.

  1. Don’t forget scent!

Easter is a real feast for the senses with bright cheerful blooms and hearty family meals. So don’t forget to treat our noses too! You could opt for indoor spring bulb planters – hyacinths are THE best – or choose a fresh, calm or lively scented candle to fill the room with glorious scent. Online we have the soy-wax Old Man and Magpie Candle Company range as well as the *NEW* Cedar Candle range of hand-poured candles and essential oils.

  1. Bring the outdoors in

Plants are known for the air-purifying properties, so are the ideal finishing touch to any spring clean. But these gentle, soft and handsome beauties also bring with them calm and positivity, so are the ideal re-energiser for spring. You know, when the Easter egg sugar high wears off…
