Real Life Wedding Inspiration

06 November 2015

We know that when you’re planning your big day, so many ideas are inspired by other weddings you attend or read about, so we’re going to start bringing you blogs on some real weddings we have had the pleasure to work on. Up to you whether you use them, steal their style, or nosey at our handiwork!

Louise and Martyn Mount tied the knot at Colshaw Hall on 31st July 2015. But our relationship started much earlier than that, around a year before during an initial consultation over coffee. Louise had already selected her bridesmaid’s dresses and had a clear vision of coral shades mixed with blush, peach and ivory colours to complement these. She also knew she wanted tall table centres to echo the drama of her venue.

Sharing her Pinterest board with us, we set to work interpreting her requests to develop a clear concept for the day. Despite the soft colours, we opted for a bold stem in her bouquet, using lots of different rose varieties to bring a unified style but with plenty of texture. Specifically, we used coral old fashioned roses, Juliet David Austin roses, bombastic spray and cabbage style spray roses and pale peach spray roses, along with white bouvardia, clusters of hydrangea and peach/coral lissianthus. We finished it using a piece of jewellery of sentimental value to Louise.

The bridesmaid bouquets were a very similar style to Louise’s but without the coral and peach shade so that they contrasted well against their dresses. Martyn’s buttonhole complemented Louise’s flowers; a David Austin Juliet rose with spray rose detail and the groomsmen’s buttonholes were more neutral to fit with the bridesmaid bouquets.

For the table centres we used tall silver vases to add impact and filled them with flowers to tone with the bouquets and buttonholes, plus the addition of some fuller flowers and ‘Miss Piggy’ roses. The colours looked stunning in the room and added a great splash of colour. We used the same arrangements on plinths for the ceremony, which looked spectacular as the bride walked down the aisle.

In rest of the space we used a selection of silver vases in varying shapes and sizes to complement the guest tables, interspersed with tea lights and scattered petals.

Everything looked simply stunning and very classy on the day. We were overwhelmed when Louise later wrote to say how much she loved the flowers and asked how she could preserve her bouquet! We took this as one of the biggest compliments ever! Her kind words:

Thank you so much to Sian and the team for our wedding flowers at Colshaw Hall on 31 July 2015. The flowers were stunning and everybody commented about how beautiful they looked, the centre pieces were magnificent and were just how I described. Mine and my bridesmaids bouquet were also amazing with so many gorgeous roses. Also not to mention your brilliant customer service and friendliness, I would recommend Flower Lounge without any hesitation they are brilliant.
