A Wedding Awash with Flowers at Victoria Baths

We recently collaborated with acclaimed photographers, Cassandra & Ayesha on the most spectacular wedding shoot at Victoria Baths in Manchester.

The shoot was a workshop for a select group of bourgeoning photographers who came to hone their skills in one of Manchester’s most unusual wedding venues.  The beautiful former swimming pool was a picture perfect location for the styled shoot and provided us with a spectacular back drop to let loose our floristry skills!

Taking inspiration from the venue’s period decorative features; stained glass, terracotta, brick tiles and mosaic floors we first chose a palette of dusty pinks, soft mauve and chalk white, punctuated with sumptuous deep purple - a sublime partner for the muted shades and bounty of fresh green foliage. We even threw in a pheasant feather or two!

This shoot was modern, young and natural with our real-life model Sofya wearing an on-trend top and skirt combination by The Case of the Curious Bride and Alex looking debonair in a velvet suit from Richard Smith Bespoke.

The centre piece of the bouquet was a stunning giant Protea, nestled amongst Romantic Antike roses, Paul Ricard roses, purple ranunculus, fritalaria and astilbe . We used an abundance of lush green herbs, olive and trailing jasmine to give the bouquet a ‘just gathered’ natural feel.

To frame the shoot, we designed a flower arch from silver birch branches bound by swathes of flowing ivy and matching flowers from the bouquet. Rose gold geometric candle holders and rustic tin containers added an urban edge to this big, sumptuous design.

For our second shoot, model Liza wore an original 1960s dress from The Case of the Curious Bride’s vintage collection. To complement her colour and style we created a rainbow bright, compact bouquet using orange ranunculus, garden roses, matracaria daisies, stocks, gloriosa and lavender all hand-tied with a vibrant, pink ribbon.  We loved how these clashing colours worked so brilliantly together – the very essence of a modern, confident bride.

Thank you to Ayesha, Cassandra and Samantha Broadley Photography for the fabulous photos – all the photographers did an amazing job on the day! I hope you enjoy them and if you’d like to speak to us about your wedding, then we’d love to hear from you. Visit our website for more information.
