Making Headlines with Flowers!
It’s been a whirlwind few months since winning The Wedding Industry Awards ‘Wedding Florist of the Year’. We’ve been having some lovely chats with journalists across many of the national and regional wedding magazines, getting involved in photoshoots, interviews, expert panels & even a bit of TV work!
We kicked off with an interview with That’s Manchester TV about the award and the future of the business. Although I don’t think I’ll ever be comfortable in front of the camera; I had to channel my inner Davina McCall for the good of the business!
This was swiftly followed by a great feature in Greater Manchester Business Week which really helped to put us on the map locally and I was thrilled with the positive response to the article.
But, it’s been the wedding magazines that have really tapped into my passion for flowers. We’ve had a bulletin in Your North-West Wedding Magazine, been on the expert panel answering bride’s questions in Perfect Wedding Magazine and even written some features on wedding trends for Wedding Flowers Magazine and Wedding Ideas Magazine. A big thank you to the wonderful Jonny Draper for allowing us to use his photographs to show off our floral creations!
All this has kept us really busy, but last month I set off to a photo studio in Colchester to be a part of a special bouquet edition for Wedding Flowers and Accessories Magazine! We were tasked to create a bouquet, place setting and table grouping using peach and coral tones…and we didn’t hold back! Our designs were full of texture and depth, created by bringing together lots of blousy roses, including one of our favourites, the David Austin ‘Juliet’ Rose. We created fullness, scale and even more fragrance by adding flowing jasmine, mint and rosemary and finishing off with hand dyed silk ribbons. It was lovely to see how this all came together and I hope it inspired some brides-to-be!
As a florist, my true love has always been The Florist magazine, edited by Caroline Marshall-Foster. As a young florist, it was my bible and I would hoard every magazine and read them over and over until they were dog eared! So, I was overwhelmed when Caroline asked me to be in their special jubilee edition. 60 seconds with…me!!!! I’m still picking myself up of the floor and can’t wait to see it. No doubt you’ll see me hugging the magazine in an up-coming Instagram post!
What I take away from all of these experiences is the importance of grasping every opportunity. You’ve got to be in it to win it! And, you never know what doors it may open for you and your business.
If you like what we do then we’d love to hear from you. Whether it’s a wedding, corporate event or simply a special occasion we are bursting with ideas to share, so please do get in touch.
