Flower Lounge Showcases 2016 Wedding Trends at The Wedding Edit

22 October 2015

Last weekend was a riot of flowers, music and all things ‘wedding’ as the incredible Love Bridal hosted their annual wedding show at the exclusive Styal Lodge, Cheshire.

The incredibly talented Emma and Jonny Draper created a perfect setting with which to inspire bride’s to be, by selecting the most sought after wedding suppliers in the North West to showcase their products and services. We were honoured to be a part of their beautiful event and share the floor with other likeminded wedding businesses.

The day started with a chance to chat with the VIP brides as they socialised and experienced the stunning contemporary surroundings of Styal Lodge. With a glass of champagne in hand we happily chatted away about flowers, listening and offering advice to each bride on everything from bouquets to buttonholes, table centres to hair garlands.

Our focus for this event was to look ahead to 2016 wedding trends and we had great fun creating and showcasing these to the special guests.

Marsala colours and berries are set to be big next year. With echoes of red wine and chocolate, the velvety richness of flowers such as dahlias and ranunculus help to create a real opulence and richness - perfect for an indulgent, luxurious occasion.

The metallic trend shows no sign of slowing, with precious shades of copper, gold and bronze being seen in glistening vases, spray-painted bottles and glittering tealight holders.

Over-sized bouquets are hot too, with plentiful stems and buckets of spilling foliage creating statement pieces that will really create a stir should you choose to toss the bouquet to your adoring guests!

Finally there’s set to be a resurgence on hair flowers; beautiful garlands, simple vintage stems or pretty blossoms providing the finishing touches to bridal styles.

We were able to display all this and more at the main event - the Love Bridal catwalk show. The models glided down the runaway which was adorned with exquisite hydrangea, dahlias, roses, spray roses, sedum, blackberries, sanguisorba, red fountain grass and various eucalyptus foliages, including a gorgeous flowing variety; all filling the room with beautiful scents and colour.

The wedding atmosphere was amplified by award winning DJ Andy Murphy whose live music helped to get everyone in the celebratory mood. You can check out a short video from the event here.

It was such a buzz to meet so many creative brides and hear their sensational visions for their big day. A massive thank-you to Emma, Jonny and the team for organising such a fantastic event. We particularly enjoyed the impromptu photo shoot which really captured some of the best moments.
