Our new look revealed

We had the super talented Jonny Draper visit our shop a couple of weeks ago to capture of few snaps of our newly re-vamped shop.  After a couple of weeks of upheaval, it was a delight to see the finished article captured on camera – I think it finally hit home that I have got the shop of my dreams!

It all started earlier this year when I met with uber gifted interior designer Sian Astley from Moregeous, self-termed Lady Builder and of BBC’s ‘Get the Builders In’ fame – yes her, off the telly! I was totally inspired by her response to my vision and the solutions she offered to some of the niggles I had with some of the shops original design, that it was a no brainer for me in invite her in.

There wasn’t enough storage. There wasn’t enough display space. There wasn’t enough light.

We also have a new brand which feels fresh and contemporary, which I didn’t feel was reflected in the shop. I’ll be honest and say I also had shop envy – after seeing so many inspiring florist boutiques in various European cities, I wanted one of my own; one that would give my customers the same wow factor that I had when walking into theirs.

No mean feat then Sian!  She wasn’t fazed.

What the shop needed was a shift around, to pull the counter away from the back of the shop and make the glorious flowers the first thing you see as you walk in.  She also suggested using the natural light of the window to create a stunning display area for our creations and an ideal Instagram spot!

We created a completely free wall for presenting our potted plants and floral arrangements, which Sian cleverly used the full height of, building a combination of bespoke shelves and re-purposed drawers.  This shelving style was all over my Pinterest feed and has honestly become one of my favourite elements of the shop. That, and my new marble-effect counter top – it’s gorgeous! Such a fab surface to work on – I loved running our mini demos from it the other week during our preview evening and more recently throughout our workshops.

Which leads me nicely to a little secret. Sian answered my need for an ongoing workshop programme by hiding some ingenious work tables under our plant display area that can neatly be pulled out for our visitors to get creative on! So clever! As was her suggestion of eating into the consultation room slightly to create a bespoke cupboard for storing orders ready for delivery – just brilliant!  We now have a clutter free walkway! And I’m so pleased as the consultation room finally feels as I have always wanted it to; a modern, welcoming and professional space for meeting with clients and brides-to-be.  Her use of divine wallpaper from Papermint and clever shelving has made the space so incredible that I keep having to pinch myself that it’s mine!

The makeover wasn’t without its challenges – continuing to work but confined to the back room was fun & games for a few days – but it was honestly a pleasure working with Sian, Martin and the team and I couldn’t be happier with the results. We hope you like it and that get that wow feeling I hoped for!
