Flower Lounge Showcases 2017 Wedding Trends at The Wedding Edit
It’s the perfect setting with which to inspire bride’s to be and played host to some of the most sought after wedding suppliers in the North West – each showcasing their products and services with aplomb. As ever, we were honoured to be a part of their beautiful event and to share the floor with other likeminded wedding businesses.
The day started with a chance to chat with the VIP brides as they socialised and experienced the stunning contemporary surroundings of Styal Lodge. With a glass of champagne in hand we happily chatted away about flowers, listening and offering advice to each bride on everything from bouquets to buttonholes, table centres to hair garlands.
Our focus for this event was to look ahead to 2017 wedding trends and we had great fun adorning the venue with our latest designs and giving our special guests inspiration for their perfect day:
- Geometric shapes in metallic shades of copper and gold are set to be a must have design element. With simple, modern lines and a nod to the industrial trend they add glamour to lighting or providing an eye-catching centrepiece in which to house flower arrangements or twinkling candles.
- Oversized bouquets are certainly in vogue with bold, large headed blooms such as protea and giant succulents blended with gorgeous foliage to create that exuberant ‘about to burst’ look.
- An abundance of fresh green foliage, particularly ferns are big for 2017. It’s about making a statement with a bold, contemporary design that maximises shape and proportion – great for larger rooms where you can get creative or mixed alongside oodles of candles to highlight texture and cast atmospheric shadows.
- And finally, for those with a sense of humour, we’re loving the golden pineapple! Fruit pieces have always been popular but a gold painted, glitter pineapple certainly makes a statement and elevates your typical table décor by adding a touch of sparkle and shine.
We were pleased to able to display all this and more at the main event - the Love Bridal catwalk show. We adorned the entrance with swathes of foliage, geometric lights and candles and lined the runway with matching geometric vases spilling over with varying fern, mini palm plants and glossy moss. Using protea to add colour and impact and our bang-on-trend ornamental pineapples dotted with cymbidium orchid heads, we were able to show off the 2017 trends to full effect!
The wedding atmosphere was amplified by the extremely talented Ellie Sax who accompanied the girls as they glided down the catwalk. And, a special mention must go to Phoebe at Flossy and Leigh who did a fantastic job of hair and makeup on the day and to Ann McKavney at Eleventh Heaven who created the most divine headpieces and a stunning crystal cape (pictured below) - a real wow moment!
It was such a buzz to meet so many creative brides and hear their sensational visions for their big day. A massive thank-you to Emma, Jonny (for his amazing photos) and the whole team for organising another fantastic event and we’ve loved reliving the day thanks to Silk Wedding Films. We can’t wait until next year and wonder what trends we’ll be showcasing for 2018…a sequined avocado perhaps? ;)
