6 Tips to Maximise Your Wedding Flowers Budget
The flowers and designs you choose for your wedding day can play a huge part in reflecting your personality and creating the atmosphere you’ve always dreamed of. But if you don’t know much about floristry it can also feel a bit overwhelming.
At the Flower Lounge we have has the pleasure of working on all types of weddings; from small and intimate gatherings to lavish weddings in grand venues. And, whether you spend £1,000 or £20,000 on your wedding flowers, there are certain secrets of the trade that can help maximise your budget and create beautiful and personal displays that will wow your guests throughout the day. Here are some of my top tips!
Maximise the use of your arrangements throughout your big day. That stunning floral display for the Church ceremony would also look amazing at your reception venue. End of pew designs can be transferred into little vases to add colour and interest to places such as mantelpieces or window sills. And, the beautiful table centres you decide on could double as thank-you gifts for parents, in-laws, or friends who helped you create your dream wedding.
Make sure your flowers don’t fade into the background by focusing your budget on a statement floral arrangement. A spectacular flower arch or show-stopping bannister garland will pack much more of a punch, both on your photos and in the flesh, than smaller, thinly spread decorations.
Choosing a flower that’s in season is not only environmentally friendly but it’s budget friendly too! With so many amazing varieties of flowers to choose from throughout the year, we’ll always look to source fresh, seasonal and (where possible) local, as this gives us the ability to create bouquets and displays in abundance! Speak with your florist about what is in season on your chosen wedding date. The flower markets will be bursting with choice so, there’ll always be something beautiful to choose from.
4.Trust your florist
An experienced florist will have worked on a huge variety of weddings and will have some great ideas for turning your vision into a reality. So, trust them! Listen to their advice about where to allocate your budget in order to get maximum wow factor. It’s always a collaborative effort but have confidence that your florist wants the very best for you and you won’t be disappointed.
If there’s one area to concentrate your budget on, then it’s your bouquet. It’s the floral showpiece that all your guests will be looking out for...and hope to catch later in the evening! It will feature in most of your wedding photographs and can help set the tone for the rest of your wedding décor. Following the ceremony (if you don’t wish to dance the night away with your bouquet!) it can also double up as decoration for the reception venue, either on the top table or placed beside your wedding cake, it can look simply stunning. When it comes to the bridesmaid’s bouquets you don’t need to be as extravagant, they are often smaller and simpler versions designed to complement the bridal bouquet.
Try to envisage yourself as a guest at your own wedding, where will you spend much of your time? It’s probably going to be sat at the table at your reception venue. Your guests will listen to a father of the bride speech, a groom’s speech, the best man’s speech and then enjoy a three-course dinner. This means your table centres will get noticed. Rather than placing flowers around the venue that may go unseen (or worse still, unappreciated!), use your budget to create beautiful table arrangements that get people talking.
