The launch of Christmas

We were thrilled to host our Christmas Preview Evening last week and see so many of you turn out to support us.  As well as revealing our new look shop, we officially launched the Christmas range by showcasing our collection of decorations and festive arrangements plus demos on some of the most popular design requests at Christmas; Wreaths, Table Centres and Styling. We hope you liked what you saw!

This year, there’s no shortage of bling at The Flower Lounge! From glitter garlands to diamante sausage dogs, there’s every reason to bring a little sparkle into your home. Bright, shiny statement pieces are an impactful shift from more traditional decorations and ones that we know you’ll have trouble packing away come January! Metallics are still a strong trend as we move into 2018, so stock up on gold and copper vases and hammered metal containers for your Christmas arrangements, ready to re-use for spring. Glitter-dipped cones or petals are a delicate way to bring sparkle into festive arrangements too – whether gift bouquets, place settings or candle arrangements, nothing says Christmas more than the shimmer of glitter.

Flutters of snowy white adorns our shop window, dominated by our naturalistic stick tree and giant penguin – more on him later! We love this frosty, icy look as it feels fresh and clean, but no less Christmassy.  The popularity of faux trees is on the increase, as more expressive and artistic interpretations become available.  We’ve dressed ours with delicate glass baubles in traditional onion and spherical shapes and rustic birds perching on the branches.  In our fresh arrangements, we have swapped out the traditional red berry for the white snowberry and, combined with avalanche roses and sumptuous green pine and fir, creates a cool take on the Christmas display.

Finally, we’re all over the dried fruit this year! Limes, oranges, cinnamon sticks and apple, they look simply sensational wired into wreaths, candle displays or garlands.  They even look incredible stacked up in hurricane vases on the shop shelves!  We used these during our demo last Wednesday, even incorporating whole, waxed apples, much to everyone’s surprise and fascination!

The demos were highlights during our Preview Evening, complementing the browsing, prosecco sipping and mince pie nibbling! We received lots of positive feedback and were heartened about how many of you have an inner desire for floristry! Don’t forget that we have our Christmas workshops launching imminently for which there are just a couple of spaces left – book now via Eventbrite – and plans for further seasonal workshops in the New Year – follow us over on Facebook for details as they get announced.

Last but not least, we launched our #namethepenguin competition! There’s a chance for one lucky person to win the giant penguin sat in our window and take him home for Christmas – he just needs a name! We had some clever and amusing entries on the night, but our competition runs until the 15th December and is open to adults and kids alike.  For more details, check out our earlier blog or drop by the shop with your name suggestion and pop it in the post box – good luck, he really is gorgeous!

We had such a lovely evening and are really grateful to Cassandra Lane for taking these beautiful shots and to Laura at Yolk for supplying her delicious cakes and mince pies which went down a real treat. We’re also thankful to Sian and Martin from Moregeous who popped in to see their latest shop fit out in full swing!

Whether you’re looking for an elaborate floral display, a lavish garland, a simple table centre arrangement or a pretty gift bouquet, we can accommodate all of your festive needs. We also stock The Naked Candle Company range of divine soy wax candles and adorable potted plants and succulents which make wonderfully original gifts to say thank-you, I love you or simply, Merry Christmas.

Christmas has officially arrived and we’re ready for it!
